4.13 how can I paint my leather jacket or shoes?
From: Laura Lemay
Liquitex paints work best. Come in hundreds of colors, run about $2 a tube at good art stores. WASH the area you want to paint with soap and water -- just the area you want to paint, not the rest of the jacket, and let dry for a couple days. Paint. Let the paint dry for a couple of days. Spray with stuff called (I think) Spray-fix -- it's an aerosol can of fixative for paintings that will help "set" the paint once it dries.I've had a Sandman back panel for some five years now and its never cracked, faded, or peeled. I made the mistake of doing detail in magic marker and it ran the first time it got wet, but I discovered hair spray makes a good fixative in an emergency. :) Redid the detail with the Liquitex and now it looks fine.

i would recommend the brush paint/method. i did my black docs black and white striped with shoe white. i think spray paint would be messy, and the brush gives you more control. but then again, a lot of ppl who saw my shoes thought i did it with spray paint. normal latex wall paint or whatever does not wash off with water, my docs have loads of paint "scars" from my work as a stage manager/set builder :)
